We believe that asking questions is an important part of your healthcare journey. At Aston Wellness Clinic, we welcome all your questions and concerns—there's no such thing as a silly question!
Client education is one of our core values, and we want you to feel informed and confident about your care every step of the way.
Getting Started & First Visits
-
No referral is necessary. Our therapists can conduct a thorough assessment and determine the best course of action for your needs. However, some insurance plans require a referral from a medical doctor for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your specific requirements.
-
During your initial appointment, your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition. This includes taking your medical history, discussing your concerns and goals, and creating a personalized care plan tailored to your needs. Your first session usually lasts about 1 hour.
It's important to provide detailed information about your current condition and ask any questions you have about your treatment plan. The more we know about what you're experiencing, the better we can help you.
-
Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete our new patient intake form. Bring:
Any relevant medical information (reports, X-rays, test results)
Your physician's referral (if you have one)
Your insurance card
A list of current medications
We also recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated
-
Your first session typically lasts about 1 hour. After that, appointments can range from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. Your therapist will discuss the recommended session length with you.
Most people start with appointments once or twice a week. As you progress through treatment, your appointments will likely become more spaced out.
-
Some people experience mild soreness in the treated area after their appointment, similar to how you might feel after a good workout. This is normal and usually fades within a day or two. It's important to communicate openly with your therapist if you're experiencing discomfort during your treatment, and let them know how you felt after your last session so they can adjust your care as needed.
Insurance & Payment
-
Coverage varies depending on your specific insurance plan. We recommend contacting your employer or insurance provider directly for details about your coverage, including:
Which services are covered
Your annual or per-visit limits
Whether a referral is required
Any deductibles or co-payments
-
It depends on your insurance provider. At your first appointment, we'll let you know if we can bill your insurance directly. If you'd like to find out before your appointment, just give us a call at 705-531-3095.
-
Yes, we are registered with the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB). We can bill WSIB on your behalf, and as long as your claim is approved, you won't have any out-of-pocket expenses.

Treatment & Recovery
-
There's no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Your rate of healing depends on many factors, including your age, the type and severity of your condition, how long you've had it, your overall health, and how well you follow your treatment plan.
That said, our treatments are designed to stimulate your body's own healing response. Your therapist will give you a better idea of what to expect during your first appointment when they discuss your treatment goals with you.
-
That's entirely up to you. Some people only want treatment for a specific pain or condition, and when their symptoms improve, they stop coming. Others use our services to maintain wellness and optimal mobility over time.
Think of it like a car—our bodies are subjected to continual stress and wear and tear. The texture of our soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments) changes when subjected to this stress, and it benefits from a "tune-up" every now and then. The treatment approach you choose is completely up to you. Whatever you decide, we're happy to help.
-
Absolutely! You have the right to choose where you receive your care. You're welcome to access therapy at any clinic—it's completely up to you.
